There is no other city in the world such as Rio de Janeiro. Despite being the second largest city in Brazil, Rio has a nice and relaxed atmosphere, which is perhaps the reason it is famous as the Wonderful City. There are many things that make Rio such a different city. First is the sunny coast and it’s many beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema, where the locals spend a lot of time. Secondly, the lush forest and mountains of Tijuca National Park, the largest urban forest in the world. And there is the rich musical culture of the city, being Samba and Bossa Nova the most well-known of the local rhythms. Founded in 1565, the city of Rio de Janeiro has a huge importance in Brazil’s history.

It was the seat of the Portuguese Royal Court in the 19th century, and Brazil’s capital until the late 60’s, when it then moved to Brasilia. Rio was the world’s first city to be listed as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, and offers it visitor’s a great variety of attractions besides the beaches and the Samba. There is the beautiful and historical architecture, the Botanical Garden, the Sugar Loaf mountain and its cableway, Corcovado mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue, and a lot more that only someone that lives there could unveil. Near the city there are several other nature attractions such as Serra dos Órgãos and Itatiaia national parks.

Highlights: Experienced local specialists, beautiful landscapes, rich cultural attractions, nature and wildlife, great food and accommodation.
